Coto Technology’s reed relay and reed switch manufacturing facility is situated in Mexicali, Mexico. Founded in 1917 in Providence, Rhode Island, USA, as Coto Coil Incorporated, the company originally specialized in the design and manufacture of coil windings. In the mid-1960s, Coto expanded its product line by introducing reed relays, integrating reed switches into coil windings. By 1970, Coto had become a leading manufacturer of reed relays with the development of the first patented Low-Thermal EMF reed relay. In 1983, Coto produced the first surface-mounted reed relays, followed by the world’s smallest SMD reed relay in 1994, and the first patented reed relay with >8 GHz performance in 2001.
In 2010, Coto relocated its relay design labs and corporate offices to North Kingstown, Rhode Island, along the shores of Narragansett Bay. This high-efficiency facility enables Coto engineers to develop advanced solutions for small signal switching applications. Whether it’s high-speed serial data communication, signal integrity analysis, or the increasing demands for greater bandwidth and higher frequency, Coto is committed to addressing the needs of its customers now and in the future. In 2014, the company introduced the CotoMOS® solid-state relay line, and in 2016, it launched the revolutionary TMR-based miniature RedRock sensors and switch series.
